NY pol: Guilty plea likely in boy's dismemberment

NEW YORK (AP) — A New York state lawmaker says a man accused of abducting and dismembering a boy from his district has agreed to plead guilty to murder.

Brooklyn state Assemblyman Dov Hikind (HY'-kihnd) said Wednesday that Levi Aron is expected to enter the plea as part of a deal that would result in a sentence of 40 years to life in prison. A hearing is scheduled for next week.

Hikind says the family of victim Leiby Kletzky (LY'-bee KLEHT'-skee) wants to avoid the pain of a trial.

The Brooklyn district attorney has declined to comment. There's been no immediate response to a message left with Aron's attorney.

Police say Leiby got lost leaving day camp and asked Aron for help before he was killed.
