MORE: ‘Hope’ Lives on: Dog Survives Savage Stabbing and Brutal Duct-Taping, Finds Forever Home
Witvil Florvil, 29, is being held on $5,000 bond. The one-year-old Boxer dog, recently named “Courage,” was found at Witvil’s address, police said. The dog had 20 inches of his back burned and will need a few more weeks to heal, according to NBC 6.
“This is horrible because it’s intentional. The dog is paying the ultimate price,” Kathy Labrada, enforcement manager for Miami-Dade Animal Services, said to NBC 6. “He’s in an incredible amount of pain.”
Miami-Dade Animal Services are hopeful that Courage, observed to be underweight and fearful of people, will gradually socialize and be ready for adoption soon.
“I think he’s got the will to live and I think once all this gets healed, he’s going to find a good home and have a happy future ahead of him,” rescuer Sarah Leddick said to NBC 6.
